A Flying start for Bike IT DRT Kawasaki at Rnd 12 of the MXGP in France

12/10/2021 | Category: Team News

Everything started off positively in France with Wilson taking the Kawasaki KX250 into 7th position in qualifying, just half a second off pole position. This would be essential for a good start at the French circuit of Lacapelle Marival. In race one a good jump was hampered with a slight collision off the gate with a neighbouring rider, costing a potentially great start, but Todd was able to salvage a top ten round the first corner. The track was fairly difficult to pass on but Todd finished in a respectable 8th position for race one.

A better start in race two saw the Bike It MTX Kawasaki rider in the top 5 and looked to have the potential to push for the top few guys. Unfortunately in a battle with fellow Australian Jed Beaton, the two collided as Todd held his line through a berm and Beaton came into the side of him, taking the bike out of the circuit and into a fence. Wilson was able to rejoin the race but set back to 22nd, he was only able to regain 16th position with the time available, showing good speed and technique.

Things look positive for the next few races, especially with some good starts. The team now head to Spain for the next round of the MXGP World Championship, and Courtney will once again rejoin for a round of the WMX Championship.

Wilson Todd takes on the German hills at Rnd 11 of the MXGP in Teutschenthal

04/10/2021 | Category: Team News

The final stint of Grand Prix's began in Germany, in Teutschenthal. With 8 back-to-back races, it's going to be tough on the riders and will really show who has the endurance to round out the season. New to the circuit, Todd quickly picked up good speed around the german hills.

Using his 13th gate pick, Todd was able to get a top ten start in race one, but the gnarly deep ruts would put an end to the Australians performance, as a deep rut bent the gear lever under the footrest, hampering his ability to change gear. Despite trying to push on, Todd was forced to make a pit stop, but the changeover cost him over a lap so was forced to accept 29th position in race one. Not disheartened by this Todd once again got a great start on his KX250, mixing in with the top ten guys, and as he made a push for 6th a small crash ended up costing him around 5 seconds - unfortunately too much to overcome as he eventually crossed the finish line in 7th place.

The team now heads to France at the circuit of Lacapelle Marival for round 12 of the MXGP World Championship.

Bike DRT Kawasaki lands back in Europe for Rnd 10 of the MXGP

20/09/2021 | Category: Team News

The MXGP and Bike It DRT Kawasaki team are back to Europe after the double-header at Turkey, to the island of Sardinia, for round 10 of the MXGP World Championship.

After a few races with teammate Courtney Duncan (competing in the WMX class) it was down to just Wilson Todd to fly the Bike It flag this weekend. Todd managed to get his third consecutive top 10 finish and claim one position closer to the overall top 10, moving into 11th overall with 176 points. A good start in the first race allowed the Australian to keep in the mix with the front guys, eventually finishing in 7th.

It was a similar display of skill in race two as Todd put his KX250 through its paces in the top 5, but a collision with another rider would hamper any hopes of a career-best finish as he was able to claw back to 15th, after dropping back to 16th. These scores combined would give another 10th position for the number "20".

Tough weekend for DRT's Wilson as he heads out solo in Kegums

It was a solo outing for the young Australian, as Hammal continues to recover and the WMX series takes a small break before the next GP in Turkey. A not so bad start in race one was soon followed by disaster...

Coming into the second round of the WMX World Championship with the red #1 plate, to a notoriously infamous track that the "1" hadn't competed at before, against a host of local sand specialists would be no easy task. DRT's Wilson Todd back in action at Round 6 of MXGP

03/08/2021 | Category: Team News

There was little luck to be had for the Australian Wilson Todd's first competitive outing in the deep Lommel sands. Posting a respectable 13th position in timed qualifying, the #20 headed into race one from the back of the pack, he charged through to around 14th at the halfway point. A hose on an additional oil cooling unit, designed for the deep sands of Lommel became damaged after a collision with another rider, unfortunately causing Todd to retire....

Bike It flies aims high at Canada Heights!

07/06/2021 | Category: Team News

Round three of the REVO ACU British Motocross Championship took place deep in the woods of Swanley, Kent at the Canada Heights Circuit. With both riders in the paddock with Wilson returning from arm pump surgery, hopes were high for a day of unmissable racing. This was almost the case with a strong 3-4 qualifying posted from Todd and Hammal respectively, but a last lap mistake from Hammal would see him sustain a bad finger injury, and unfortunately retire from the day of racing....

2nd in championship for Taylor Hammal!

24/05/2021 | Category: Team News

Round two of the REVO ACU British Motocross Championship kicked off at the weekend, at Cadders Hill, outside Norwich. All eyes were on Taylor Hammal on the green KX250 this weekend, as teammate Wilson Todd sat out this race, recovering from arm pump surgery. The day started off strong, with a 3rd position in qualifying after putting in some fast laps.

Race one would see a top 6 start from the young #575, and he was able to make his way through to third by half race distance. Hammal wasn't quite able to catch 2nd place but finished a comfortable 10 seconds ahead of 4th.

Race two would see a better start and great racecraft from Hammal, but a few mistakes on a tricky to pass track with changing weather conditions would see a few falls, missing out on a better finish in the second race. However, consistency over the day would reward him with a 2nd overall, as his first ACU British Motocross Championship podium. Taylor Hammal has now also moved up into 2nd overall in the points championship.
